DON’T FORGET TO PICK UP A SHOEBOX TO FILL FOR OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD! Choose a boy or girl in one of three age ranges, and fill the shoebox with small gifts such as school supplies, toys, toiletry items, crafts, etc. The filled shoeboxes will be shipped to underprivileged children around the world. For many of these children, the shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.  Unassembled shoeboxes can be found on the table in the narthex.  You will also need to pick up a label/envelope for each box.  A $9 donation per shoebox is necessary for shipping.  The boxes must be returned to church by November 12.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES plans to formally list for sale the church property between the cleared church grounds and Lewis Lane.  Proceeds from this sale will support necessary repairs to the roof and façade.  Please contact Ed Paluszka or Jeanne Hanna with any questions or concerns.

THE WORLD MISSION OFFERING will be received throughout the month of October.  Gifts totaling $1,343 have been received to date.  Our Grace Baptist goal is $2,500.  Let us join together in touching as many lives as possible around the globe.  Offering envelopes are in the October newsletter and available in chair backs.

TODAY children ages 6 years old to 7th grade will be attending the Family Escape Room in Langhorne, PA at 1:00 P.M.  Those going will have pizza during Graceland 2nd Hour and then we’ll travel to Langhorne as a group at 12:00 P.M.  Escape Room is a fun, interactive game that challenges your mental and physical speed.  As part of a team, each child will look for clues, solve puzzles, answer riddles, and unlock the mystery of the room before the time runs out.  This activity promotes teamwork, critical thinking and creativity.

FALL ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

  • The Wired Word class meets in the boardroom.  This group takes a wide range of topics from the news and uses biblical texts to explore these often challenging situations.  Class leaders: Cliff and Monét Dobrovolec
  • Study of the book, “Victory Over the Darkness”, by Neil Anderson.  The class focuses on discovering who you are in Christ and the power of your true identity.

THE 2018 STEWARDSHIP PACKETS will be mailed to regular givers the week of October 29.

IT WILL SOON BE TIME to send out Care Packages to our Grace Baptist college students.  Please bring in your donations of candy, ramen noodles, easy mac, and other treats college students might like and place on the marked table in the narthex before Friday, November 3.  Buy an extra bag of Halloween candy or bring your leftovers!  Shoe boxes are also needed to pack up the treats.  The kids at Parents’ Night Out on November 3 will put together the boxes and include a note to each student.  Thanks for your help with this project!  See announcement below.

ATTENTION, PARENTS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS!  Please let the church office know your student’s new school address, telephone, and e-mail so the Grace Baptist family can stay in touch.  You won’t want them to miss out on a November care package!

FROM BETTY LEECH:  “I want to thank Linda Allmond for the wonderful surprise party and also Pastor George and the entire congregation for the lovely farewell reception last Sunday.  The hymn, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”, sung this morning was my husband’s favorite and I so appreciate Barbara including it today and Gunta singing a verse.  Today is my last Sunday to worship at Grace Baptist.”  (Betty’s new address and phone: 1256 Faust Road, Perkiomenville, PA 18074, 267-834-9173)

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GRACELAND!  Additional childcare helpers are needed for the Nursery and the Toddler Room during worship. Please contact Casey or any member of the Board of Christian Education if you can help.

THE SEARCH CONTINUES for a new Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.  All inquiries and job application materials should come to Trish in the church office.  All information will be forwarded to the search committee.

EARTHQUAKE RELIEF TO MEXICO: Jean-Luc Krieg and his family are safe in Mexico and are now working hard in the three earthquake-affected regions.  He asks for financial help with the strategic efforts of Urban Mosaic: renting heavy equipment to demolish uninhabitable homes, providing emotional support, organizing engineers to assess damage and medical personnel to work in the shelters, and securing water for 4,000 slum dwellers.  If you wish to give:

  • Online at www.urbanmosaic.net/donate
  • Donate by check or money order payable to Urban Transformation International.  Include a note on the memo line “earthquake relief fund”.  Mail to Urban Transformation International, P.O. Box 983, Clifton, NJ 07014.
  • Text message “give” to 717-219-5174.
